Welcome to my little corner of the internet.
If you're interested in learning more about the world & characters of the SEVEN STONES, you've come to the right place. Or, if you just want to follow my journey in writing these books, there's also a blog called THE LONG ROAD, where I talk about things both related and unrelated to the undertaking.

What else? Well, I intend to add a gallery soon, to display the work of all the wonderful artists I've worked with in bringing this world to life. I also might add a forum one day, if I can manage to find the time. Last of all, you can always contact me, if you like.

Thanks for stopping by!

The Heat is On

This will be a short post. Definitely not an ambitious one. It’s summer time. To be specific, it’s July. And where I live, that means heat, hurricanes, and the half-way-back-to-school-again mark. Which means I’m running out of time. All the grand plans made back in May (yes, May is when the kids get out here,…

Oh My Lore

I’ll be honest—I’ve forgotten half of the past decade. But I still remember clearly the day I first read through The Silmarillion. I was fourteen, in possession of an obligation-free Saturday and a new book—a thick, daunting son of a bitch, with cover art drawn by Tolkien himself. I’d read The Hobbit and The Lord…

What are the Seven Stones?

Funny you should ask, because I have no intention of answering that question. I just thought it made for decent website copy.

In any case, I wouldn’t want to ruin any surprises.

What I can tell you is that the story revolves around two brothers, Indus and Kenar, and a Shimari acolyte named Nessus, who must face an evil so great it destroyed the world once before. So old, it’s been written into myth…

I can tell you the setting of this story is “the West” — a continent that falls between the great Ka’lan (ocean) and the edge of the world — a never-ending canyon, known simply as the Rift.

Two empires — Jenzir and Ankar — dominate most of the West. But in the wilds beyond their borders live the reclusive cacuar, cat-like beings who once ruled the world. And in the far north, beyond the Black Mountains, are the frigid forests of the Tholnar people, as well as the hidden realm of the crafty myrrym.

I can tell you about the Sahjihna — the vast, criminal organization that rules from Baron’s Bay. And the Watchers, spies of the Emperor, who work in secret toward their own goals. And the Six Schools of Soulcraft, scattered about the Empire, each vying for dominance.

I can tell you of Soulcraft itself — an arcane power possessed by the “Gifted,” which allows a person to trade their own soul in exchange for power. How it used by Shimari priests who protect Ankar, and abhorred by the Pnatarist clerics of Jenzir who seek to destroy them.

I can tell you of the many other characters in this story — of Daros, the Traveler, and father to Indus and Kenar. Of Zeira, his ally, who has undertaken a dangerous mission for the Shimari. Of Rahin, a talented student trapped in a dangerous school. Of Chyski, a reluctant criminal with an unpaid debt. Of Istan, a traitorous linker on the run from his past…

I could go on and on about a whole lot of things, but I’d rather you discovered them yourself. The first three novels in the series are almost completed. I invite you to gather around the fire (or find a comfy chair) for a long tale written in the spirit of the stories I grew up loving…
